Activity

The Museum of Prienai region is public legal body, legal form- budgetary institution of district Municipality, the owner is Municipality of Prienai district, and the Council of Municipality of Prienai district has owner rights and duties.

The activity of the Museum of Prienai region is regulated by museum regulation.

The Museum keeps the cultural history of territory of Prienai district, ethnography, folk art and museum value/pieces collections of famous region people life and creation and also individual values, given to museum. So the Museum:

• Saves and protects museum value/piece records and also public accessibility of museum values/pieces;
• Organizes cultural events related with Museum activity;
• Participates in common Lithuanian and region programs;
• Gives methodical support to region educational and cultural institutions of regional studies and museology field;
• Present to public the museum values/pieces and their collections:
• Arranges standing and temporary expositions, exhibitions, publishes research results, museum pieces catalogs, educates- prepares educational programs;
• Accepts and protects deposits;
• Organizes researches, expeditions;
• Gives methodical support to public museums;
• Makes drafts of various programs, looks after their realization;
• Cares about qualification of museum and subdivision employees.

Museum not only collects and protects values, but also implements cultural, educational, informative activity, tries to become concurrent part of our region public life. Our institution stands between other cultural institutions of region, enriches public life with museologic, educational, cultural activity, our service pull in more and more visitors, and also our museum is equal with museums of other municipalities.

In the Museum the exhibitions are permanently on: artists, photographs, folk artists, schoolchildren show their works. Exhibitions are also prepared of museum stock. The Museum has nice traditions- marks anniversaries, presents works of region people and organizes traditional regional trade days and woodsmen camp. Here also ethnographic events, various feasts are on.
