For more than a hundred years, pious women lived in a solitary area. They played an important role in a rural community by taking care of villagers’ spiritual education, teaching writing and crafts and providing shelter to the unfortunate. |
They didn’t create families but lived a humble life and prayed for everyone. Being under the aegis of pious women, each person suffering from an illness was wrapped by their exceptional kindness.

The village of pious women and Šilavotas were connected by a pious women’s sculpture path. Devout women from the village used it to go to church every day. Nowadays, the path has become a symbol for Christian faith and a way to God’s home.
